BRAVO is our latest project to enhance volunteerism within our community.Becoming a community partner would show your commitment to recognizing the importance of volunteerism.

BRAVO was based upon a a survey conducted in 2004 by Imagine Canada and the University of Lethbridge. The survey asked representatives of 990 randomly selected businesses if they support employee volunteering, how they provide this support, and what they perceive to be the benefits and challenges of doing so. The survey found that 71% of businesses either encourge or accommodate employee volunteer activities. However, only one third of companies actually recognize employee volunteers, and make information about volunteer opportunities available. BRAVO stands for Businesses Recognizing All Volunteer Opportunities.

BRAVO is Volunteer Comox Valley's latest project to enhance volunteerism within our community.Becoming a community partner would show your commitment to recognizing the importance of volunteerism.BRAVO stands for "Businesses Recognizing All Volunteer Opportunities"

Volunteer Comox Valley would like to support businesses interested in contributing to the community and acknowledge the many benefits of businesses collaborating with community organizations. Do you encourage, accommodate, and recognize employees who are interested in contributing to the community or have been contributing in some capacity?

If you are business owner collaborating with a community organization you may already be eligible for participation and recognition.

Volunteers are absolutely essential to our community providing: support for families (daycare and eldercare), improving education (tutoring, literacy), and support for seniors and youth, beautification of the community, and much more. There is still a considerable amount of volunteers needed to fill available positions.

We have approximately 1400 open and available voluntary positions for community members and we expect this number to increase. According to Statistics Canada, 10% of volunteers contribute more than 50% of volunteered hours; most of these hours being from an aging demographic unable to contribute to the capacity required to fulfill the demand for services. Without these services our community would not be as vibrant, welcoming, or culturally inclusive; an invaluable business investment to sustaining a growing economy.

If you are a local business owner or manager, and are interested in participating, please read through our invitation letter below.
