Position Description

We are looking for 2 or more volunteers to re-open a Courtenay Spark unit. The time commitment is 2-3 hours per week, plus 2 or 3 sleepovers/camps per year. Training is provided and mentoring is available. Join now to learn the ropes in another unit before starting up in September.

Sparks are 5 and 6 year old girls, the youngest branch of Girl Guides of Canada - Guides du Canada. The Sparks program exposes girls to a wide variety of activities and allows them to begin to explore the world around them in the company of other girls their age.

Spark leaders are adult women of any age over 19, volunteering in teams of 2 or more. They provide a varied program that is Girl-centered, fun and engaging. The program includes: games, crafts, community visits, music, and the outdoors. Training and local mentoring are available, no previous girl guide experience is necessary.
