Volunteer Management Workshops – Nov 5th

Volunteer Management Workshops – Nov 5th

Non-profits and community groups provide more and more the life-saving and life-enhancing services and events we take for granted around us, and more and more volunteers are a critical part of this network.

As part of their support for non-profit and community groups, Courtenay Recreation and Volunteer Comox Valley are happy to present two volunteer management workshops Wed, Nov 5, geared expressly for the managers of volunteers and non-profit organizations.

The morning workshop is “Engaged Volunteer Management” with Anne-Marie Koeppen. Learn the basics of the volunteer management cycle from planning, recruitment and selection, to training, evaluation and recognition - all necessary components of effective management of volunteers.

The afternoon workshop is “Time Management for Non-Profits” with Garland Coulson. Time is our most precious resource. Lean how to achieve more with less time so that you can take back the time of your life.

Anne-Marie Koeppen is the North Vancouver Island rep for AVRBC - Administrators of Volunteer Resources BC and has over 20 years experience in community building. Anne-Marie believes that relationships and building relationships create healthy resilient communities. Garland Coulson is Captain Time; he has been speaking and training on time management, internet marketing and social media for over 25 years. He is a “Time Master,” showing people how to achieve more with less time. FMI www.captaintime.com.

A noon hour Meet & Greet will have our AVRBC rep Anne-Marie talk about the interesting and informative work done by AVRBC across the province. Learn about AVRBC, hear the latest news from Volunteer BC, and more. Nov 5 is International Volunteer Managers Day; come and celebrate, make great connections, and find out about a host of resources available for you. 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm, Coffee, tea and snacks provided. FMI about AVRBC check out www.avrbc.com.

Both workshops and the Meet & Greet are Nov 5th at the Courtenay Fire Hall, upstairs; the morning workshop is 9 am - 12 noon, the afternoon workshop is 1:30– 4 pm. Each workshop is $20; register at Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre 250-338-5371 before October 29th.
